Aladzha monastery

The Mussel Kingdom!

In the north, in Dobrudja, in one of the cleanest areas of the Bulgarian Black Sea, in the beautiful Kaliakren Bay, there is the Dalboka mussel farm. Ecologically clean Black Sea mussels known for their taste and useful ingredients are grown here.

Mussels have been a preferred and healthy food since ancient times! As early as 2000 years ago, the Romans included mussels in their menu. From then until today, the consumption of mussels has been increasing because of the delicious dishes that can be prepared and the unique composition and beneficial ingredients of their meat. Mussels are a natural “bioindicator” of the purity of the water they live in – they only develop in clean waters!

Shable Lake

Shable Lake is a lake in northeastern Bulgaria It is a coastal estuary separated from the sea by a 230 m wide sandbar. It is included in the border of the protected territory of 510 ha, it is included in the list of ornithologically important places in Europe. Its area is 0.8 – 0.9 square km[1], depth from 0.4 to 4 m, maximum – 9.5 m, salinity is 0.4%. In the north, it is connected to Ezeretsko lake through an artificially dug channel. It is located 1.6 km northeast of the town of Shabla.

The flora in the lake is rich. There are 32 species of algae and over 79 species of higher plants. The shores are overgrown with reeds and reeds, and on the open water surface, shining like a mirror, the exquisite colors of water lilies can be seen. In autumn, the papur dries up and surrounds its blue waters with a golden halo.
